4:30am and I'm still posting up photos of this year's pre-dawn Thaipusam event. Managed to make my way to Batu Caves at 12am yesterday morning and returned home at about 4:50am. Took me 45mins to get from just the base of the steps to my car!

Anyways, was planning to take a 1 hour nap before proceeding there again at about 6:30am, but woke with a horrendous migraine.

Guess I'll have to wait till next year (again), to take more photos . . .

Will be uploading the full set of photos onto my site later today. Its sleep for now!!

Life's been pretty hectic lately, hence the absence of any new posts . . .

But we've recently been joined by an adorable kitten.

The latest addition to our small family. Marmalade . . . isn't she adorable?

Found her when my cat started staring off at the back of the compound, and the first thing I noticed was this small little ball with huge ears sticking out. It was in the shadows, and after looking real hard, realised that it was a frightened little kitten.

We soon realized that there was a box next to the fence, and surmised that the poor thing was flung in the box, right into our compound.

She's a smart little kitten, and of a very good temperament - ...

Finally managed to post up photos from my Umrah. They're located here.

Also finally updated my photolibrary with a new category called Personalities. That will feature photographs of the 'famous' people that I've shot so far. There is also another handful of photos that I'm waiting to upload into the Personalities category, but can't because they were shot for a book project that has not been published yet - so look out for those!

Will update this blog when I have the time.

Well, its been quite a while since I last updated this site. In part due to my realization that bloggers really do need to have an insane amount of time on their hands. In part due to the fact that I've been pretty busy with a multitude of projects as well as a very inspiring and fulfilling trip :

View from outside of Masjidil Haram in Mecca. Muslims congregate even on the outside of the mosque for Teraweh prayers during the first week of Ramadhan.

YES! I was in Mecca for about 9 days, and in Medina for about 3 days. It was a great trip.

Will be updating this post soon, as I'm heading out to work!

Cheers.

update at 2:32pm

Well, quite a while back, I was commissioned to go gad about in a few peat swamp forests by UNDP (Sabah) and Danida (Sabah and Pahang), for a few book projects that they were doing.

Last week, I finally got my hands on two of those publications - featuring my photographs. :P

So, I'm going to shamelessly put up some photos of them here. :D

The covers.

Inside pages.

Jointly published by these blokes.

For those who haven't a clue, UNDP is the acronym for the United Nations Development Programme, Danida is the acronym for the Danish Agency for Development Assistance, while GEF is the acronym for the Global Environment Facility.

All of them are working in the four focal areas of biodiversity, climate change, ozone depletion, ...

Charity.

What does it represent? Have the boundaries that define its meaning dulled over time?

I've just returned from a 4WD trip to Pos Simpo, an orang asli settlement a few hundred feet above sea-level along the border of Kelantan.

On this trip to Pos Simpo, the convoy was made up of two distinctly separate groups. One was a Baden Powell (BP) House group comprising Scoutmasters and such, and the other was a medi-aid team who were ferrying up medical supplies and two doctors for the orang aslis, under the Gecko Aid effort.

When we visited the villages, the BP team were busying themselves with giving out sweets, toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as old clothes.

I was horrified to learn that the they knew ...
